KAATERSKILL
CLOVE
Where Nature Met Art
With
175 illustrations, many of them never before published, this
is a treasure trove of little-known lore and rarely seen
images
of the heart
of the Catskill Park—the rugged mountain ravine known as Kaaterskill
Clove that defined “picturesque” and “sublime” for
generations of 19th-century artists and travelers.
Toelke Associates
designed Katerskill Clove for publisher
Black Dome Press, Hensonville, New York, in the spring of
2004
Our
work on this project included:
- In
consultation with the publisher: development of visual
concept, page design and typography, cover graphic and
book jacket design utilizing
a painting from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum
in New York City.
- Consultation
for imaging, including providing in-house scans and image
editing for nearly 150 of the illustrations.
- Delivery
of complete files and hard copy to printer.
- We
worked closely with the publisher throughout the entire
production process, making sure that the project moved
forward to meet the
publisher’s
tight schedule. Extensive use was made of PDF files for editing purposes.
The book was delivered on time and on budget.
