BOOK DESIGN
ONE
OF OURSELVES
John Fizgerald Kennedy in Ireland
Ireland,
1963: a country at last on the verge of taking its place
in the politics and economy of the modern world provides
an extraordinary homecoming to a favorite son, President
John F. Kennedy. Exhaustively researched by author James
Robert Carroll, One of Ourselves tells a memorable tale as
the leader of the free world visits a people and land long
etched in his heart.
Toelke Associates
designed One of Ourselves for publisher
Images From The Past, Bennington, Vermont, in the spring
of 2003
Our
work on this project included:
- In
consultation with the publisher: development of visual concept,
page design and typography, cover graphic and book jacket
design. Of special interest was highlighting text in the
Irish language
throughout the book.
- Create
full-page map of Ireland
- Consultation
for imaging, including providing in-house scans and image
editing for nearly all of the photographs.
- Delivery
of complete files and hard copy to printer.
- We
worked closely with the publisher throughout the entire
production process, making sure that the project
moved forward to meet the publisher’s tight schedule. Extensive use
was made of PDF files for editing purposes. The book was delivered
on time and on budget.
